2000 Urban Land Institute Award of Excellence
[Orange County, CA]
Coto de Caza, initially envisioned as a hunting resort in 1970, is now one of the oldest master-planned communities in Orange County. Covering 4,900 acres, it contains nearly 4,000 homes. Although the development withstood three changes in ownership and three market downturns, its commitment to land preservation never changed.
Coto de Caza is an eco-recreation community with core activities centered on the Vic Braden Tennis College/teaching facility; Olympic equestrian venue; championship golf courses; a 35,000-square foot clubhouse; 475-acre interpretive wilderness park; 40 miles of hiking trails and equestrian trails; and 21 community parks.
